I was keen to read this book as
I have enjoyed The Four Agreements and found
it a book to keep coming back to both as a reminder
and for new takes on the agreements.
So I was disappointed to find The Fifth Agreement
hard to read and follow. It is a style challenge
rather than content. The message of The Fifth
Agreement is powerful " Be Skeptical and
Learn to Listen".
I really enjoyed how he introduced
this material and found it amusing when he said
that the information had come to him some time
back however he experienced challenges when
teaching it as students were perplexed about
the message.
For me- I am perplexed. I am a
real believer that the right message comes at
the right time and I know to watch that when
my mind doesn't grasp written material that
something else is going on and I need to persever.
Which is where I am left with The Fifth Agreement-
persevering.
The epilogue gave me an 'ah ha'
moment… Ruiz is talking about changing
the world and goes on to say "… when
I ask you to help me change the world, I'm not
talking about planet Earth. I'm referring to
the virtual world that exists in your head."
I am going to put the book aside for a few weeks
and then delve into it again…
