The Red Book
C.G.Jung
PB AUD290.00

|
|
This is a book in its own class.
Described by a New York Times reviewer as "
the gift book of the year with a rich crimson
dust jacket, thick cream-colored paper and calligraphied
pages, this huge tome is the size of a lectern
Bible and looks like the kind of spell book a
wizard might consult".
"The Red Book" was never published during
the psychologist's lifetime, though a few friends
and disciples were allowed to examine it. Apparently
Jung felt it was not only too personal and quirky
for publication, but also that he had already
mined the text for the insights set forth in his
later writings.
As editor Sonu Shamdasani stresses,
"The overall theme of the book is how Jung
regains his soul and overcomes the contemporary
malaise of spiritual alienation. This is ultimately
achieved through enabling the rebirth of a new
image of God in his soul and developing a new
worldview in the form of a psychological and theological
cosmogony."
After Jung's death, "The
Red Book," was safely locked away in a bank
deposit box. But, as happens, Jung's heirs and
disciples have now decided to bring out this edition
(with English translation), as well as mount an
exhibition about "The Red Book" at the
Rubin Museum of Art in New York.

2012 - Crossing the Bridge
to the Future
Mark Borax
PB AUD26.95

|
|
This book is an engaging personal
narrative through the author's apprenticeship
with master astrologer William Lonsdale who teaches
him how to access a source of great power and
creativity buried within the human soul.
The story begins in August 1987
on the slopes of Mount Shasta in Northern California
as Borax witnesses the Harmonic Convergence, a
spiritual and astrological event sparking a 26-year
countdown to 2012, the year that marks the "end
of history" in the Mayan calendar.
Signs indicate that a "major
energy shift" is occurring, a turning point
in Earth's collective karma powerful enough to
change the global perspective of humankind. Borax's
mountaintop experiences compel him to seek solutions
to his personal turmoil.
He meets Lonsdale and together
they launch a mystery school to study how the
twenty-five-year period between 1987 and 2012
can be used for a cosmic purging of negativity
to release humanity's core forces and restore
universal balance.
En route, Borax and his fellow students
discover truths about life after death, karma,
reincarnation, past lives, human evolution, and
the purpose of our existence on earth.

The Purposeful Universe
Carl Johan Calleman
PB AUD39.95

|
|
Carl Johan Calleman is a well respected
expert on the Mayan Calendar and its relevance
in the 21st century.
In this book, what he describes
as his third book of a trilogy, he develops a
complete theory about the evolution of the universe.
He states that one of his intentions
is to let readers, from within and outside the
scientific community, to decide whether this new
theory of evolution makes sense for them and is
useful for them as they ponder the big questions
of life.
He begins with a detailed overview
of universal cosmology, the nature of time and
biological evolution.
He then moves on to present results
that favour a new theory of evolution and a new
interpretation of the quantum theory consistent
with the view that we are living in a universe
that is intelligently designed and finetuned for
life.
Whilst Calleman will most likely
agree that his research will create much discussion
it certainly has a level of intrigue that will
keep you turning pages.

Agenda for a New Economy
David C. Korten
PB AUD29.95

|
|
As we move into the 2nd year of
what has been reported as the worst economic crisis
since the Great depression it is becoming clearer
that maybe the initial steps in response have
not actually dealt with the root causes.
Author David Korten states that
the deep source of the failure are the institutions
which have perfected the art of creating wealth
without producing anything of real value.
He goes on to state that the way
forward is to move the emphasis back to the economy
that creates wealth from real resources to meet
real needs. In this book he outlines a plan to
bring in this new economy, locally based, community
oriented and devoted to creating a better life
for all.
David Korten is president and founder
of the People-Centered Development Forum and a
board member of the business Alliance for Local
Living Economies.
